We wanted to get rid of all excuses to exercising while away. You'll notice that many of these workouts can be performed in under 20 minutes. It's not always about how long you work, it's the quality of that work and the change in your mood from before to after.
Whether you are a long standing gym rat or just starting out, the movements in this book are for everyone. Modifications are always encouraged. Don't let perfection be the enemy of a healthy life. Do what you can and modify where needed.
We wanted to abolish all excuses. Many workouts can be done with very little time but no one ever said you can't stack them! If you find yourself with some bandwidth pick two or three and give yourself a taste of variety!
From a young age, I’ve been passionate about staying active, a trait instilled in me by my mother, Judy Walters. Our family’s love for the outdoors was nurtured through our time in Montana, Utah, and Colorado. This enthusiasm for fitness influenced my life choices, leading me to study exercise science in college and work in various roles in the fitness industry, including as a gym manager and CrossFit trainer. My career as a sales professional often involved extensive travel, which challenged my commitment to fitness due to a hectic schedule of meetings and business events. To maintain my fitness regimen on the road, I created a routine adaptable to hotel stays, leading to the development of my book “101 Hotel Workouts.” This project began with a simple workout known as ‘The Jordan Special,’ involving 100 burpees. Now residing in San Diego with my wife Amanda and our corgi, Zoe, I continue to enjoy outdoor activities. “101 Hotel Workouts” is my second publication, following “The Corgi Coloring Book,” which can be explored further via a QR code or a provided link.
Raised in a competitive household as the eldest of five siblings, I embraced the discipline and resilience that came with wrestling early on. These values carried me through life, providing solace during adulthood’s inevitable stress, anxiety, and depression. Finding CrossFit in my mid-30s, I not only discovered an avenue for maintaining a healthy lifestyle but also rekindled my love for competition and formed a lasting friendship with Jordan.
Together, we tackled the challenge of staying active while traveling, creating a collection of workouts that we’re excited to share through ‘101 Hotel Workouts.’ Now living in San Diego with my partner Chelsea and our growing clowder of cats, I work in software development and as a business coach, hoping to inspire others to find their fitness path, regardless of their starting point.
